Passenger User Guide

Everything you need to know to get started as a passenger

1. Getting Started

What You Need

  • A smartphone (iOS or Android)
  • Valid email address
  • Membership in your organization
  • Internet connection

Downloading the App

  1. Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
  2. Search for your organization's ridesharing app
  3. Tap "Install" or "Get"
  4. Wait for the download to complete
  5. Open the app when installation is finished

2. Registration & Account Setup

Creating Your Account

  1. Open the App: Launch the app on your device
  2. Tap "Register": Select the registration option
  3. Enter Your Email: Use your organization email address
  4. Verify Email: Enter the verification code sent to your email
  5. Complete Profile: Fill in your personal details:
    • First and Last Name
    • Phone Number
    • Home Address (for pickup locations)
    • Profile Photo (optional but recommended)
  6. Wait for Approval: Your organization admin will review and approve your account (usually within 24 hours)

Tip: Use a clear profile photo to help drivers identify you easily at pickup locations.

3. Finding & Booking Rides

Browsing Available Events

  1. Open the app and go to "Events" or "Home" screen
  2. Browse upcoming events organized by your organization
  3. Tap on an event to view details:
    • Event name and description
    • Date and time
    • Location
    • Available seats

Requesting a Ride

  1. Select an event you want to attend
  2. Tap "Request Ride" or "Book Ride"
  3. Enter or confirm your pickup location
  4. Add any special notes (optional):
    • Wheelchair accessibility needs
    • Extra luggage
    • Preferred pickup time
  5. Submit your ride request
  6. Wait for a driver to accept your request

Understanding Ride Status

  • Pending: Waiting for driver assignment
  • Matched: Driver assigned to your ride
  • Confirmed: Driver accepted and confirmed
  • In Progress: Ride is currently happening
  • Completed: Ride successfully finished

4. Managing Your Rides

Viewing Your Rides

  • Go to "My Rides" section
  • See upcoming, ongoing, and past rides
  • Tap any ride for detailed information

Canceling a Ride

  1. Open the ride details
  2. Tap "Cancel Ride"
  3. Select cancellation reason
  4. Confirm cancellation

Note: Please cancel at least 2 hours before pickup time to allow drivers to adjust their schedules.

Tracking Your Ride

  • Real-time GPS tracking of driver location
  • Estimated arrival time
  • Driver contact information
  • Vehicle details (make, model, color, plate number)

After the Ride

  • Rate your driver (1-5 stars)
  • Leave feedback (optional)
  • Report any issues
  • View ride receipt/summary

5. Notifications & Alerts

You'll receive notifications for:

  • Ride Matched: When a driver accepts your request
  • Driver Arriving: When driver is 10 minutes away
  • Ride Started: When your ride begins
  • Ride Completed: When you reach destination
  • New Events: When new events are posted
  • Ride Canceled: If driver cancels
  • Return Trip: Reminders for return journeys

Managing Notifications

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap "Notifications"
  3. Toggle notification types on/off
  4. Choose notification method (Push, Email, SMS)

6. Safety Features

Before the Ride

  • Verify driver profile and photo
  • Check vehicle details match the app
  • Share ride details with family/friends
  • Review driver ratings

During the Ride

  • Wear your seatbelt
  • Follow GPS route in real-time
  • Use in-app messaging to communicate
  • Emergency button available 24/7

Emergency Contacts

  • In-app emergency button
  • Organization admin contact
  • Local emergency services (911)
  • Support hotline

Emergency: If you feel unsafe at any time, tap the emergency button in the app or call 911 immediately.

Common Issues & Solutions

Can't find rides for my event

Solution: Ensure event is published and has available drivers. Contact admin if problem persists.

Driver not arriving

Solution: Check app for updates, contact driver via in-app messaging, or call support.

Can't verify email

Solution: Check spam folder, request new code, or contact support.
