Complete guide for drivers in the ridesharing platform

1. Getting Started

Requirements to Become a Driver

  • Valid driver's license
  • Vehicle in good condition
  • Valid vehicle registration and insurance
  • Clean driving record
  • Smartphone with GPS capability
  • Membership in your organization

Vehicle Requirements

  • 4 doors minimum
  • Seats for at least 4 passengers
  • Working air conditioning / Heating System
  • Clean interior and exterior
  • All safety features functional

Tip: Keep your vehicle clean and well-maintained to provide the best experience for passengers and receive higher ratings.

2. Driver Registration & Approval

Registration Process

  1. Download the App: Get the mobile app from App Store or Google Play Store and Install
  2. Lunch the App: Search and Select your organization from the list
  3. Click Signup and "Register as Driver": Choose driver registration option
  4. Personal Information:
    • Full name
    • Email address (organization email)
    • Phone number
    • Home address
    • Profile photo
  5. Driver's License:
    • Upload front and back photos
    • License number
    • Expiration date
  6. Vehicle Information:
    • Make, model, and year
    • Color and license plate
    • Seating capacity
    • Vehicle photos
  7. Insurance & Registration:
    • Vehicle registration document
    • Insurance certificate
    • Expiration dates
  8. Submit Application: Review all information and submit
  9. Wait for Approval: Admin will review (typically 1-5 business days varies by organization)

Note: Ensure all photos are clear and documents are not expired. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

After Approval

  • You'll receive an approval email notification
  • Log into the app with your credentials
  • Set your availability
  • Start accepting rides!

3. Accepting & Managing Rides

Viewing Available Rides

  1. Open the app and ensure you're "Online"
  2. Browse "Available Events" or "Ride Requests"
  3. View event details:
    • Event name and location
    • Date and time
    • Number of passengers needed
    • Pickup locations
    • Distance to pickup

Accepting a Ride Request

  1. Review ride details carefully
  2. Check if pickup location and time fit your schedule
  3. Tap "Accept Ride"
  4. View passenger information:
    • Passenger name and photo
    • Pickup address
    • Contact information
    • Special requests (if any)
  5. Confirm you can complete the ride

Managing Your Rides

  • Upcoming Rides: View all accepted rides in "My Rides" section
  • Ride Details: Access passenger info, pickup location, and notes
  • Schedule: Plan your routes for multiple pickups
  • Capacity: Don't accept more rides than your vehicle can handle

Declining or Canceling Rides

If you need to decline or cancel:

  1. Tap the ride in your schedule
  2. Select "Cancel Ride" or "Decline"
  3. Choose a reason from the dropdown
  4. Confirm cancellation

Warning: Frequent cancellations may affect your driver rating and account status. Only cancel in emergencies.

5. Safety Guidelines

Driver Safety

  • Always wear your seatbelt
  • Obey all traffic laws and speed limits
  • Don't drive while tired or under influence
  • Keep doors locked until passenger is verified
  • Trust your instincts - cancel if something feels wrong
  • Keep emergency contacts readily available

Passenger Safety

  • Verify passenger identity before allowing entry
  • Maximum passengers = vehicle capacity (no exceptions)
  • Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts
  • Don't allow unregistered passengers
  • Be alert to suspicious behavior
  • End ride immediately if passenger is aggressive or intoxicated

Vehicle Safety

  • Regular maintenance checks
  • Keep first aid kit in vehicle
  • Working fire extinguisher
  • Clean and sanitized interior
  • Functional safety features (airbags, brakes, lights)

Emergency Procedures

  1. Use in-app emergency button for immediate help
  2. Call local emergency services (911) if needed
  3. Pull over safely if there's a problem
  4. Document incidents with photos/notes
  5. Report all incidents to admin within 24 hours

Emergency: If you feel unsafe, pull over in a public area, end the ride in the app, and call emergency services immediately.

6. Tracking & Performance

Performance Metrics

  • Driver Rating: Average rating from passengers (target: 4.5+)
  • Acceptance Rate: Percentage of rides accepted
  • Cancellation Rate: Keep below 5%
  • Completion Rate: Rides successfully completed
  • Response Time: How quickly you accept rides

Viewing Your Statistics

  1. Go to "Profile" or "Dashboard"
  2. View "My Stats" or "Performance"
  3. See detailed breakdown:
    • Total rides completed
    • Total passengers transported
    • Average rating
    • Recent reviews
    • Distance traveled

Improving Your Rating

  • Arrive on time (or early)
  • Keep vehicle clean and comfortable
  • Be professional and friendly
  • Drive smoothly and safely
  • Help with luggage when appropriate
  • Follow GPS route accurately
  • Maintain good vehicle condition

Tip: Consistently high ratings may qualify you for special recognition or priority ride assignments!

7. Best Practices

Professional Conduct

  • Dress appropriately and maintain personal hygiene
  • Be punctual for all pickups
  • Greet passengers warmly
  • Respect passenger privacy
  • Avoid controversial topics (politics, religion)
  • No smoking in vehicle (even when empty)
  • Don't eat or drink while driving

Communication

  • Respond promptly to messages
  • Use in-app messaging for documentation
  • Communicate delays or issues immediately
  • Confirm details before pickup
  • Be clear and polite in all interactions

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Clean vehicle before each shift
  • Check for forgotten items after each ride
  • Regular oil changes and maintenance
  • Keep adequate fuel level
  • Stock tissues, water, phone chargers (optional but appreciated)

Efficiency Tips

  • Plan routes for multiple pickups efficiently
  • Accept rides in your area to minimize dead miles
  • Use real-time traffic updates
  • Know alternative routes
  • Schedule availability during peak times

How to Get Help

  • In-App Support: Settings → Help & Support

  • Phone: Contact organization admin
  • Driver FAQ: Check app's FAQ section
  • Driver Community: Join driver forums/groups (if available)

Common Issues & Solutions

App not showing available rides

Solution: Ensure you're "Online," check internet connection, verify location permissions are enabled.

Passenger no-show

Solution: Wait 5 minutes, try contacting passenger, then mark as "No Show" and report in app.

GPS not working

Solution: Enable location services, restart app, check for app updates.

Document expired or needs updating

Solution: Go to Profile → Documents, upload new documents, wait for admin approval.

Reporting Issues

Always report:

  • Safety incidents or concerns
  • Vehicle accidents (even minor)
  • Passenger misconduct
  • Lost and found items
  • Technical app issues
